KINGMAN, AZ

Definitely worth a detour off of I-40, two stops stand out in Kingman:

MOHAVE MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND ARTS,

with its fabulous Route 66 mural, and lunch at the

Haulapai Mountain Resort dining room where you can watch wild elk grazing outside the humongous picture window.

But the real gem lies deep in the desert just south of Kingman.

Fear not, as you carefully follow the directions to

Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch.

It will feel like you’re lost in the gravel roads that seemingly lead to nowhere, but press on! After a full day of travel, you’ll likely arrive just before sunset.
